Integrated landscaping
21/05/2021
Two recent examples where water features were the stand-out elements within an overall landscape design.
The first example has one of our favourite design elements that you may have seen on previous projects. A hand-dressed stone mosaic which overlips the pond, creating a stunning destination spot.
The second example showcases the same stone used in a different application, this time for a grand set of twin walls and mosaic steps. These stone walls define the formal area of the garden before leading you to view the cascading water feature in the upper corner.
Maximizing space
When we emphasize to clients the impact a water feature can have, even in limited space, we mean it. Look at this example, these photos are taken on the last day of the project and it instantly looks mature and settled into its surroundings.
A really authentic pool and stream project with an integrated filtration system and a haven for the local wildlife which these fantastic clients wanted to support. Full project write up coming soon!
Landscape design in Carlisle
21/05/2019
We've just kicked off another garden design project in Carlisle which centres around one of the most natural and rustic streams to date.
Today included a trip to a chosen local quarry to hand pick over 6 tonnes of stone which will enable us to create our vision. A mosaic patio is going to provide the view up the stream and of the surrounding gardens.
We've also got some stunning existing acers in the garden to frame and overlip some of the waterfalls planned. It's a great garden design, so check back in two weeks for the finished photos!
Garden design in Cumbria
17/05/2019
Start with the before picture in the top left and see how we transformed this tiny garden into a water garden oasis in just two weeks! From a previously lifeless neglected corner, the garden is now full of the sight and sound of moving water.
We love the surrounding planting scheme, look at the white Armeria in the top right picture or the pink variation in the bottom left. A tough one to leave and certainly a garden design we can't wait to watch mature and flourish over the years to come.

Landscaping in the
North West of England
18/02/2019
A feature blog post dedicated to the projects we've carried out in North-West of England, enjoy some of our recent highlights in the region. It's the region we've completed the largest share of our designs and somewhere that we continuously find inspiration in the surrounding landscapes, particularly in The Lake District which we are lucky to live so close by.
We love to use various stone indigenous to the region to give our designs authenticity, and the variety of stone to choose from in the region allows us to tailor our stone choice to each client, particularly the colour. Next week we'll move on to Scotland and share some of our projects from over the border!
Project preview!

Stonework snaps
30/10/2018
Have a look through six great snapshots of different recent pieces of stonework which all played a key role on different projects. All of the natural stone used here has been hand-picked and sourced by ourselves in order to achieve the right quality and to tailor stone colour to match clients preference.
There's some great examples of our mosaic patio's here, notice how the stone is the same as the type used to create the water feature. This allows the accompanying planting scheme to contrast against the neutral stone and look so rich.
Stonework is a key element of many of our designs and enables us to create the bespoke outdoor spaces which allow our water features to be enjoyed fully.
Maintaining water quality
16/09/2018
Achieving and maintaining a high water quality in all of our water features is always a key concern in order to maximize the enjoyment from all of our designs. We achieve this by combining biological and mechanical elements in order to maintain the balance to allow our ponds to flourish.
We use our specialist knowledge of aquatic planting to use natural biological filtration, and through the breakdown and recycling of organic elements the correct biological balance can be maintained.
Its vital to keep a constant flow of water to prevent stagnation, and we tailor our use of different water pumps to suit the size and volume of water in each feature. One of the most enjoyable parts of adding our water features to a garden design is being able to observe the wildlife attracted, and a crisp, clear water quality ensures this is possible.
On-site inspectors!
Just a few of the recent visitors we've had on site to inspect our new water features!
There's really nothing that can compare to a water feature, for an element in a garden design to attract wildlife. It's a reminder that water features will bring your garden to life like no other garden feature.
The Courtyard Stream Project
We've just completed our latest project in Cumbria. Named The Courtyard Stream Project the design focuses around a stream which wraps and swings around a natural stone mosaic patio, eventually spilling out into a cavern pond which beaches out towards another smaller mosaic patio.
Another complete full garden landscape, the project page will be published shortly, with a more in depth look at all of the elements of the project.
A preview of the latest project
Our latest full garden landscape in Cumbria will be completed for the start of August. The design centerpiece is a four metre diameter mosaic patio. The stream in this project wraps around the mosaic patio to create an infinity edge look.
Its by far one of our most ambitious designs to date,we've engineered the height levels to sit the mosaic patio as close to the running stream as safely possible. Come back to see the full project soon!
Another project comes to life!
We started spring by completing a challenging multi stream project in Carlisle. The bespoke stone mosaic patio provides the centre piece for this garden and the perfect place to take in the new vibrant surroundings full of sight, sound and smell.
The biggest logistical challenge on this project was maneuvering the stone bridge into its position. The final outcome is just as we planned and makes the stream so interactive
